Terms of Service
Last updated: February 27, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Mission website (missionwp.com), the Mission WordPress plugin, and the Mission API (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. About Mission
Mission is a free, open-source WordPress donation plugin that enables nonprofits to accept donations through Stripe. Mission operates as a Stripe Connect platform, connecting nonprofits (connected accounts) with donors.
2. Stripe Connect
Mission uses Stripe Connect to facilitate donation processing. By connecting your Stripe account to Mission, you also agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which includes the Stripe Terms of Service.
You acknowledge that Stripe is the payment processor and that Mission acts as an intermediary platform. Please review Stripe's Privacy Policy for information on how Stripe handles your data.
3. Eligibility
To use Mission, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have legal authority to enter into these Terms
- Operate a legitimate organization that accepts donations
- Comply with all applicable laws and Stripe's terms of service
4. Your Obligations
As a user of Mission, you agree to:
- Provide accurate information when connecting your Stripe account
- Use the Service only for lawful donation collection purposes
- Maintain the security of your site token and API credentials
- Comply with all applicable tax and nonprofit regulations
- Not use the Service for fraudulent, deceptive, or illegal activities
5. Fees
Mission is free to use. There are no platform fees charged by Mission. Standard Stripe processing fees apply to all transactions. Stripe's fees are set by Stripe and are subject to their terms.
6. Donation Refund Policy
Donations processed through Mission are between the donor and the nonprofit organization. By default, donations are non-refundable.
- Refund requests should be directed to the nonprofit organization that received the donation.
- Nonprofits can issue refunds through their Stripe dashboard.
- Mission does not control or process refunds — refund decisions are at the sole discretion of the receiving nonprofit.
- Chargebacks and disputes are handled by Stripe according to Stripe's dispute resolution process.
7. Plugin License
The Mission WordPress plugin is open-source software licensed under the GNU General Public License v2 (GPL v2). You are free to use, modify, and distribute the plugin in accordance with the GPL v2 license.
8. Service Availability
We strive to maintain high availability of the Mission API and services, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Mission is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
- Our total liability for any claims arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (which, since Mission is free, is $0).
- We are not responsible for the actions of nonprofits, donors, or Stripe.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mission and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
11. Account Disconnection
You may disconnect your Stripe account from Mission at any time through the plugin settings. We reserve the right to disconnect accounts that violate these Terms or Stripe's terms of service.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the applicable courts.
